DAY THIRTY-SEVEN – Wednesday, April 5, 2023
Mark 14:32-50
God gave his most (precious gift) Jesus. “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well-pleased,” so we might all have eternal life. John 3:16; “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
But why did God have Jesus die like a criminal on the cross? At that time people were accustomed to giving animals at the temple for sacrifice. Why? God only knows, I sure don’t. Such a hard death for a God Man. Why was it necessary for Jesus to die like a criminal on a cross in the hot desert sun? Was it to get our full attention? I’m sure that would be a very cruel way to die (that’s the nurse speaking out.)
I understand Peter’s actions hanging back in the crowd, but close enough to see all that was happening to his friend and teacher, Jesus. Fortunately, the disciples did survive that day and spread the Good News of Christianity so we have a church today. Now we have the challenge of keeping this church thriving.
