Matthew 13:32-33, 44-46
One definition of a parable is an Earthly story with a Heavenly meaning. Jesus used parables to teach because the crowds who came to hear him were mainly ordinary folk-farmers, women, fishermen, shopkeepers and even the disciples.
The Kingdom of Heaven is like: A tiny mustard seed which grows to encompass us all with its blessing. Leaven or yeast which makes bread rise, as we must, to become the very best that we can be as Christians. A treasure in a field that makes us willing to give our all for Christ. A pearl of great price is the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus’ life which ensures us of an eternal home with Him.
May we have ears to hear and hearts to understand.
