DAY TWENTY – Thursday, March 24, 2022
Matthew 13:24-30; 36-43
In this parable about the Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus is telling us that both evil and good exist side-by-side in this world. We must learn to live alongside this evil and not be deterred or swayed by it. We need to work hard to strengthen our relationship with God so as to not be swayed or overwhelmed by the weeds. It calls for patience to wait for God, who will take care of things in the right time. When asked if the workers should uproot the weeds, Jesus says no. In doing so, the good might be uprooted along with the weeds.
When gardening, it is often not easy to tell the weeds from the good plants in the beginning and so you must let them grow to a certain stage before you know which is which. When you see weeds in your garden, you tend to want to pull them up right away. It is not up to us to judge who is good and who is bad. At the end of the age, God will do the judging. Each person’s life and journey is used by God to change or strengthen one’s life. God gives everyone a lifetime to learn, grow and/or change. We can choose His way or the way of the Evil one.
