At last! The much anticipated Upper Room devotionals are finally here. Pick up a copy from the back of the church, or call the office to pick up the January-February issue. There is a donation box at the back of the church, if you wish to contribute to the cost of this ministry.
Copies of our Pastoral Charges’ Annual Report have been emailed out. Some hard copies are also available at the back of the church. This has been circulated in order for you to prepare for the February 5th annual meeting.
Please plan to attend Port Perry United Church’s congregational annual meeting next Sunday, February 5th, following morning worship, in the auditorium. This is an important meeting where visioning, and a possible amalgamation with Prince Albert United Church will be discussed.
Come gain another window into the life and work of your church family. This is your chance both to offer suggestions, and to show your appreciation to those who work on our behalf throughout the year. There will be coffee, tea, and cookies available. Please consider bringing a brown-bag lunch.
Please plan to attend Prince Albert’s congregational annual meeting next Sunday, February 5th, following worship, in the fellowship hall. This is an important meeting where the amalgamation agreement with Port Perry will be voted on. Please bring a brown-bag lunch.
This year’s winter study series is an exploration of the faith and practices of our Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim neighbours, as well as taking a deeper look at some of Christianity’s traditions, such as Orthodoxy, the Roman Catholic tradition, and Celtic Christianity. Such explorations can deepen our own faith and can help us to appreciate and learn more about our own particular Protestant practices. The study series will include visits to various places of worship and, we hope, a few guest speakers. The evening sessions will be on Wednesdays in the Port Perry lounge, beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The daytime sessions will be on Thursdays in the fellowship room at Prince Albert United Church, beginning on Thursday, February 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dates for visiting other places of worship are still to be arranged. Please call the church office if you are interested in being a part of this study.
Support your church’s team! “The Coldest Night of the Year” walk, hosted by North House, is happening on Saturday, February 25th, and is starting and finishing at Port Perry United Church! All monies raised will fund critical services that serve and support vulnerable families and individuals in our community. Would you like to walk with our team? Please call the church office or speak to Elaine. Donations for our team are being received on-line at: https://cnoy.org/home; From this web page click on “donate.” Our team’s name is “Port Perry & Prince Albert United Churches,” and our team captain is Elaine.
Our church family is going curling on Saturday, February 11th at 1:30 p.m. at the Port Perry Curling Club. This event is for all levels of experience and for singles, couples and families. Teams will be formed on the day, and children will play along with their grownup. Our time together will begin with a warm-up and a short lesson. A pot-luck supper will follow at 4:30 p.m.
If you do not have curling equipment, no worries. Simply wear stretchy pants and bring clean indoor shoes. For ages 12 and under, a helmet is required.
Please sign up through the church office or the sign-up sheet at the back of the church, by Wednesday, February 8th. To help offset costs, the Christian Education Committee will have a donation box set out, and are asking for a donation of $10 per curler/$25 per family.
