Supported
Organizations 2011
The 2011 Town & Country House Tour is pleased
to support three very important local organizations -- Joanne's
House , Community Care Durham and YWCA
Durham's Second Stage Housing for Women.
Joanne's
House
Joanne’s
House (formerly Durham Youth Housing and Support Services) addresses
the needs of at risk and homeless youth in Durham Region. Our vision
is for all youth to have a place to call home where they feel welcomed,
accepted and valued; and where youth are equal as partners in creating
a better community. Joanne’s House operates a 13 bed housing facility
in Ajax Ontario. Joanne’s House opened in April 2008 and in our
first year of operation we provided emergency housing and other
support services to 148 youth aged 16-24 from all municipalities
in Durham Region. Our long term goal is to work towards establishing
50 beds of transitional housing and 10 beds of supportive housing
for youth.
