Community Outreach through our various projects and fundraising initiatives
supported the following local, national, and international charitable
organizations:
Community
Care Durham
Community
Care Durham (CCD), established in 1977, is a multi-service registered
charitable organization that provides Home Support, Respite (Caregiver
Relief) and COPE Mental Health services for adults and their caregivers
who have needs related to physical disability, aging and/or mental health.
Their services are provided free of charge or for a minimal fee and are
administered through nine service locations across Durham. (learn

Cornerstone
Community Association
Cornerstone
Community Association was established in 1967 to provide services to individuals
who were homeless and required support for reintegration to the various
communities within the Durham Region.
Durham
Youth Housing and Support Services
Durham Youth Housing
and Support Services addresses the needs of at risk and homeless youth
in Durham Region. Our vision is for all youth to have a place to call
home where they feel welcomed, accepted and valued; and where youth are
equal as partners in creating a better community.
DYHSS operates a 10
bed (soon to be 13 bed) housing facility in Ajax Ontario. Durham Youth
House opened in April 2008 and in our first year of operationwe provided
emergency housing and other support services to 148 youth aged 16-24 from
all municipalities in Durham Region.
Our long term goal
is to work towards establishing 50 beds of transitional housing and 10
beds of supportive housing for youth. (learn

Frontiers
Foundation
Frontiers Foundation is a non-profit aboriginal voluntary service organization
that promotes the advancement of economically and socially disadvantaged
communities. Through the Operation Beaver Program, with volunteers from
across the globe, we work with aboriginal communities to provide affordable
housing and improvements in education. (learn

Sleeping
Children Around the World
Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) donations provide bedkits to
children of any race and/or religion who will benefit the most; typically
being located in underdeveloped and developing countries.Since its founding
by Murray and Margaret Dryden in 1970, SCAW has raised over $20 million
to provide bedkits for over 900,000 children in 33 countries. In 2009
we will reach our millionth child. (learn

YWCA
Durham's Second Stage Housing for Women
Started
in 2008 through YWCA Durham, this project provides the region's only second
stage housing program for women at risk. At Adelaide House, the residents
will find safe, comfortable and affordable housing and meals. The program
also provides a peer network, professional counselling, advocacy and skills
development.
Over a maximum 24
months stay, these women will gain the skills, connections and confidence
to achieve long-term success and independence in Durham region. (learn
