to be even better with a tremendous selection of homes and historic buildings
lined up for your viewing pleasure!
Tickets are
$20 each and can be purchased through the church office. Each ticket includes
a stop at the church where the House Tour Café will be serving
light refreshments throughout the day. For more information visit www.PortPerryHouseTour.ca
or call the church office.

The Dofasco Male Chorus - A Joint Fundraising Effort!
For the first time, the Stewards of both Port Perry and
Prince Albert have united in a fundraising event.
We are proud to announce that we have secured the acclaimed DOFASCO MALE
CHORUS from Hamilton, for an event in the Port Perry church sanctuary
on Mon. April 4, 2011. Proceeds from this event will be divided equally
between our two churches and our Outreach committee.
ALL 300 TICKETS WILL BE PRE-SOLD.
The
price is $15 each and are currently available from the church office and
will be available from any Steward or their delegate starting September
2010. We have been on Dofasco’s waiting list for 2 ½ years and
are excited that they will be with us on April 4, 2011. By coincidence,
they performed at Prince Albert in September of 1991 to start the week
leading up to their 125th Anniversary, and they will be at Port Perry
leading up to the 125th Anniversary of their building.
This
is a generous group and all they require is:
- A
venue and a tuned piano (Port Perry to supply)
- A
refreshment at intermission and a light snack after the performance
(supplied by Prince Albert UCW)
- A
packed house (supplied by members and friends of Port Perry and Prince
Albert Untied Churches and the community)
We
want to make this an enjoyable event for both churches and for the community.
Please mark your calendars now and buy your tickets early.

week of music, games, learning and fun. We had a blast ‘Serving our Family,
Friends, Neighbours, Community and Jesus’.
Thank
you to the 53 volunteers who made this week possible. Please mark the
week of July 18th 2011 on your calendar for next year’s VBS! Also consider
volunteering your time and energy to this fun and faith filled week.

Contribute to our Worship Service Bulletins
This new initiative
combines stewardship with “caring and sharing”. Through your sponsorship
contribution toward the cost of the weekly bulletin, you can celebrate
an event, honour an individual, or remember a loved one. For example,
the wording in the bulletin might read “Jane and John Doe have contributed
to today’s bulletin in celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary.”
The cost is $20 per week. You may select a specific Sunday, but there
will be a limit of one sponsor per week. Please contact the church
office to make arrangements.

JNAC Update
The purpose of the
Joint Needs Assessment Committee (JNAC) is to prepare (or in this case
update) the Joint Needs Assessment Report which gives a description of
our community, our pastoral charge and details of the ministerial position
that we are looking to fill. We are not the Search committee – this is
a separate committee yet to be formed. The JNAC Committee has been meeting
and are working at getting our 2008 JNAC Report updated. We are preparing
a survey to be ready for early September, which will give members of both
congregations an opportunity to submit their ideas and feedback to help
in the preparation of the JNAC report.
Members
of the JNAC Committee are: Paul Griffen (Chair), Donna Donnelly (Secretary),
Nancy Dressel, Dave Noble, Jack Rothery, David Shepherd all from the Port
Perry congregation; and Marion Blackburn, Catherine Daigle and Ilean Pugh
from the Prince Albert congregation. Please feel free to contact any of
these members if you have questions or concerns. Our goal is to have the
2010 JNAC Report in the hands of Presbytery for approval by November at
the latest. A search committee will be formed at a congregational meeting
prior to the Report going to Presbytery. The JNAC Committee will keep
the congregations informed of our progress.

Pakistan Relief
The United Church of Canada has announced the launch of an emergency appeal
for donations designated for flood relief and reconstruction in Pakistan.
The United Church will receive donations to its Emergency Response Fund
to be used by the ACT Alliance, a global network of 100 churches and church-related
organizations that work together to provide humanitarian assistance and
long-term development. ACT members in Pakistan are working diligently
to deliver assistance including food, water, tents, kitchen kits, hygiene
kits, mosquito nets, and emergency medical care.
If
you would like to make a donation to this fund please make your cheque
payable to “Port Perry United Church” or “Prince Albert United Church”
and clearly mark Pakistan Relief Assistance in the memo line. We will
then forward the total amount donated from our two churches to the Emergency
Response Fund of the United Church of Canada. These donations are tax
receiptable.
