CHOIR
Our Senior Choir is under the direction of Joan Bretney.  Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Sept. – May. New members are always welcome. Contact the president of our Choir for further information -- Sylvia Van belle (905-985-2801)

Our Jr. Choir is under the direction of Julie Renwick. Rehearsals are at the call of the Director. Contact the church office for further information.

Our Girls Choir is under the direction of Joan Bretney. Rehearsals are every Sunday immediately following morning worship. Contact the church office for more information.

Our Cherub Choir is under the direction of Cathy Pavlik-Griffen. Rehearsals are after church on Sunday. Contact the church office for more information.

UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The purpose of the UCW is to unite all women of the congregation for the total mission of the church and to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian Witness, Study, Fellowship and Service. Our UCW consists of 4 Units:

Mary Unit meets the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

Sarah-Ruth Unit meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

CHURCH CHICKS UNITED (CCU)
Church Chicks United (CCU) is a fun, informal group of women who share in fellowship, support each other spiritually and reach out to the younger generations of our church and to the community. CCU meets the last Friday evening of each month. Time and location to be announced monthly via e-mail. If you are a “chick” or want to become one, we welcome you!

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The purpose of our C.E. Committee is to plan, co-ordinate and oversee the Christian Education work of our church, so that persons at each stage of their lives may be helped to grow in their Christian faith. Our Sunday School is a sub-committee of our Christian Education Committee.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our Sunday School is a sub-committee of our Christian Education Committee. We have an active and enthusiastic Sunday School. We offer classes from age 3 to high school age. During the summer months and on school breaks and holidays we offer either a combined Sunday School for all ages under the leadership of one of our youth leaders or the children will remain in the service for family worship. 

Our Sunday School use the “Veggie Tales” Curriculum with each class using age appropriate materials. Our teachers find this a very user friendly curriculum and our young people enjoy its teachings and challenges throughout our church seasons.  We welcome new members to our Sunday School at any time throughout the year.

Our young people offer our congregation a Christmas pageant each year with participation from all members of our Sunday School.

We also offer Sunday child care to infants and toddlers to 2 years in our bright, modern nursery facility. We invite you to visit our nursery at any time.

STEWARDS
The Committee of Stewards is responsible for assisting in securing contributions and for fundraising to meet the necessary expenses of the congregation. They are also responsible for providing care and maintenance of the church building and its grounds. They provide supervision for the caretaker and any work parties that may be called from time to time. They also establish guidelines and rental fees for the outside use of the church facilities.

Our current Chair of Stewards is Tim Griffen (905-985-9274).

SESSION
The purpose of our Session is to have oversight of the spiritual interests of  our church. Members of the Session are called “Elders”. In order to be a member of Session you must be a full member of the church. Our Session meets once every other month with committees of Session meeting on the alternate months. There are no meetings in July and August.

Our Session is made up of 8 sub-committees; Christian Education, Memorials, Pastoral Care, Worship, Nominations, Community Outreach, Communications and Hospitality.

Our current Chair of Session is Jack Rothery (905-982-0369).

MEMORIALS
The purpose of the Memorials Committee is to establish and administer policies regarding memorial gifts given to the church and to give recommendations to the Session regarding the disbursement of these gifts based on the policies established. 

WORSHIP
The purpose of the Worship Committee is to provide general oversight of the worship experience of the congregation and to oversee the use of the sanctuary.  

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
The Hospitality Committee looks after how we welcome those who come into our midst. This group looks after setting up the lists of Friendship Elders, Greeters and Coffee Hosts. They also send out cards to those who have been bereaved, baptized or married during the last year. As the name suggests they work hard at helping this congregation be hospitable or welcoming to newcomers

PASTORAL CARE
The purpose of the Pastoral Care Committee is to provide general oversight and nurture of the congregation with regard to membership, fellowship and pastoral care.

NOMINATIONS
The purpose of the Nominations Committee is to seek candidates to fill vacancies on Session, created by retiring or resigning members and to recommend such candidates to the congregation for election along with any other candidates nominated by the congregation at the Annual Meeting. This committee is made of up of those members entering their final year of their term on Session. This committee functions from October to October.

A Chair is elected at the first meeting.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The purpose of the Board of Trustees is to hold all property in trust for the congregation. They ensure that all church buildings and property are adequately covered by insurance. They have signing power on behalf of the congregation for all loans. They administer all monies bequeathed to the church in trust.

Our current Chair of Trustees is Lloyd Short (905-985-7950).

OFFICIAL BOARD
The Official Board is the primary governing body of our Pastoral Charge (both Port Perry and Prince Albert United Churches). The Official Board consists of both ministers, the members of the Sessions of both churches and the Committee of Stewards of both churches, the Chairpersons of the Ministry and Personnel Committee, Community Outreach Committee, the representatives of both churches to Oshawa Presbytery, and one representative in full membership of the church elected by each of – The Board of Trustees from both churches, the Christian Education Committee, and/or the Sunday School, and the UCW. The Chair of the Official Board alternates every two years between Port Perry and Prince Albert U.C.

The current Chair of the Official Board is Ed Daigle (905-985-8013).

MINISTRY AND PERSONNEL
The purpose of the M & P Committee is to provide a confidential setting for the support, consultation and assessment of all persons employed by both the Port Perry and Prince Albert United Churches.

The current Chair of our M & P Committee is Marion Blackburn.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
The purpose of the Finance Committee is to have general oversight of the financial affairs common to both Port Perry and Prince Albert United Churches. This committee assists the Central Treasurer in recommending a budget, including proposed salaries, for approval by the Official Board and by both congregations. The Chair of the Finance Committee alternates yearly between the Chair of Stewards from both churches.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE
The purpose of this committee is to provide education and information to all age levels of the congregation on Stewardship (which is the responsible use of God’s gifts of time, ability, money, environment and resources, and on Mission (which is our outreach to others in the name of Christ). The Outreach Committee also promotes the Mission and Service Fund within the congregations. The Community Outreach Committee promotes outreach locally, nationally and globally.

PRESBYTERY & CONFERENCE DELEGATES
These elected delegates represent Port Perry and Prince Albert United Churches at Oshawa Presbytery and the Bay of Quinte Conference, and assist in the transaction of Presbytery and Conference business.

Our current lay delegates are Al Holditch and Barbara Griffen (Port Perry) and Beth Pereman (Prince Albert).

COMMUNICATIONS
The Communication Committee looks for and supports the ways that we communicate with each other and with the community. It supports the web-site and its creator and helps to keep it up to date, and also supports the placing of newspaper ads as needed. This committee also supports the Administrator as she prepares to get the newsletters ready for the Elders to deliver.
