Children / Youth

At Port Perry United Church we welcome and encourage the involvement of our children & youth in all aspects of the life and work of the Church. The children sit with their families for the first part of the Sunday worship and then after “conversation time” at the front, they join their classes downstairs. Our Sunday School typically runs from the 1st week after Labour Day in September until the last week of May. Nursery Care is available in our new & modern nursery during worship on Sundays.

Some of our regular programs and groups include:

• Sunday School -we offer the following classes - 3/4/5 year old class, Grade 1/2/3/ class, Grade 4/5/6 class and Grade 7 and up class.
• Curriculum: The new curriculum, “ Seasons of the Spirit” has been enjoyed by both teachers and children alike. 
• Music: The Children’s Choir is under the direction of Kathy Payne-Mercer. The Girls Choir is under the direction of our Choir Director/Organist, Joan Bretney. Please call Church to find out when they practice and perform.
• Youth Group: Both a Jr. and Sr. Youth groups are offered. Contact: Pat Bird 905-985-2801
• Confirmation Classes: Confirmation classes explore and discuss our Christian faith and are held every 2nd year. Contact: Rev. Bidgood Sveet at Church 905-985-2801.

Hosted Outreach Groups

• Guiding: Guides, Brownies and Sparks.

• Al-a-non - Support Group for families of alcoholics

• The Association of Parent Support Groups of Ontario - A self-help organization for parents of acting-out youth
